Today’s Topic:
How do we navigate the Holidays in the arts? Holiday/Winter Concerts, Art work, Plays etc.

Carol - Always have done a Holiday Concert.’
Brenda - We do a CHRISTMAS concert here. I only get to be in the concert space for 3 hours on the morning of the concert. Serious limitations!
Jen - 3rd-8th Grade Winter Choral Concert with a variety of snow, Christmas, Hanukkah, & Kwanzaa songs as well as non-holiday songs; 3rd Grade class concert also in December - this year, putting on a mini-musical all about snow called SnowBiz!
Tricia- This is a great time to have student create winter landscapes, explore visual texture by drawing polar bears, still life of hot cocoa and cookies, sculptural snowmen, etc. but use this subject matter to continue teaching curricular content (not crafts).
My students have a lot of extra energy from being excited about the holidays. So, I change up the projects to more group work. Right now I have a group working on an Art Room Theme song and video: http://fugleflicks.wikispaces.com/X-secret+in+progress+stuff
